FAQs

Q: Why should I buy organic clothing?

A: Organic clothes simply last longer. As a rule, the production process doesn't employ artificial dyes and the clothes are made of high-quality, non-degradable materials. Organic clothes are healthier, since your body is not subjected to pesticides and other chemicals like: flame retardants, heavy metal compounds, formaldehyde, or perfluorochemicals (PFCs). They're better for our planet, since organic clothes are made without pesticides, or genetically modified seeds. Plus, the manufacturers don't engage in negative ecological practices that contribute to toxic runoff, overburdened landfills, and carbon dioxide emissions that add to global warming.

Last but not least, organic clothes are more comfortable than mass produced clothes because they aren't chemically treated. This makes them a great choice for anyone with sensitive skin. Organic clothes also tend to hold color longer and look better overall.

Q: What's the difference between "organic" and "natural"?

A: Many clothes carry one of these two labels, but they don't mean the same thing. Natural clothes may be made from non-synthetic fibers. However, the farms that provided those materials may have used pesticides, or other potentially harmful farming techniques. Pesticides are not used in the manufacturing of organic clothes. Plus, all farming techniques have a minimal negative effect on the environment. If we say that clothes are organic, that means that they're certified organic according to the standards of the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Q: Aren't organic clothes more expensive than mass produced clothes?

A: They can be, but not as a rule. Remember that organic clothes can last longer when properly kept and washed. Non-organic clothes only last about 20 wash cycles before beginning to fade, so over time, organic clothes and products in general actually save you money!

Q: How should I wash my organic clothes?

A: Check the tags on your clothes for instructions. They may vary depending on the materials used. To be safe, you can use a gentle cycle when using a washing machine and use mild detergents. Use a low-heat setting on your dryer, or, air-dry organic clothes. If you need to iron, then use the lowest heat setting that you can.
